Begining of Knowledge Proverbs 1:7 - A Parents Heart

Made by Katie Zitelli

Starting with "Baby Einstein" as parents we constantly face suggestions of how our children should gain wisdom and knowledge.  These decisions often involve how our family will spend time and money.  This is why I am so excited about the meditating on Proverbs 1:7 this month.  God's Word has such great guidance for us as parents.

True wisdom and knowledge starts with the fear of the LORD.  Fear, or awe and reverence for the LORD Jehovah, the most high God Who created the heavens and earth.

"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding." Proverbs 9:10
Any wisdom or knowledge that will truly help our children starts with an awe and reverence for God.

About a year ago I made a goal for my daughter, who was two years old at the time, to have awe and reverence for God.  I didn't know exactly how to teach this to her, but I added it to my prayer list for her.  It has been wonderful to see God show my husband and me how to teach her awe and reverence.  As we taught her about how big God is, and how He is the Creator, we saw her have a reverence for Him.  Now as a three year old, she loves to point out things God made, and is excited by a beautiful sunrise. When talking about how big an object is, she often adds "But God's bigger!"

Print out the verse (half page) (full page), and post it somewhere that you can meditate on it this next month.  While a short verse, it has great guidance for us raising our children during every stage.
