But what about what comes out of my mouth? How do I respond to her unpleasant words?
"41 Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? 42 How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take out the speck that is in your eye,’ when you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother's eye." Luke 6:41-42 ESVIt seems easy for me to see ways my children can improve in speaking pleasant words. But when I take the time to address the words that come out of my mouth, get the log out of my eye, then I can see even more clearly and help my child even better.
"There is one whose rash words are like sword thrusts, but the tongue of the wise brings healing." Proverbs 12:18 ESV
"Anxiety in a man's heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad." Proverbs 12:25 ESV
"There is gold, and a multitude of rubies: but the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel. " Proverbs 20:15 KJVTo use my words wisely I can speak pleasant words, I can speak good words, and have lips of knowledge. When I make using my words wisely a priority in my life, there are so many benefits. It is sweet to the soul, it brings healing, it can make someone glad, and I can have lips that are a precious jewel. The more often that I do this, then my life is an example to teach my children, and I can see clearly to help them learn how to speak pleasantly.
