To Speak Pleasant Words, Put On The New Man - A Parent's Heart

As Christian parents we have great help in speaking pleasant words in our families - we can put off the old man and put on the new man.

This is such a great truth.  I need to remember to do it every single day.

"namely, that you strip off the old man according to the former manner of life, which is corrupt according to deceptive cravings, and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind and that you clothe yourselves with the new man, which was created in accordance with God in justness and devotion to the truth." Ephesians 4:22-24 WTJ

"Do not lie to one another, stripping off the old man with his acts, and clothing yourselves with the new man, which is renewed in knowledge [acknowledgment] in accordance with the image of Him Who created it," Colossians 3:9-10 WTJ

Our words are effected by clothing ourselves with the new man.

"Therefore, holy [sanctified] and beloved ones, as God’s chosen ones, clothe yourselves with merciful compassion, kindness, humbleness, meekness, long-suffering,upholding one another and forgiving each other. If anyone has a complaint against anyone, then even as the /lord {Or/ Christ} forgave you, so you also ought to do. Above all these things, clothe yourselves with love, which is the uniting bond of maturity, and let the peace of Christ preside in your hearts, unto which you were also called in one body, and be thankful. Let the Word concerning Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another with all wisdom, singing in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with grace [favor] in your hearts to God. Moreover, whatever you do in word or in work, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God, the Father, through him." Colossians 3:12-17 WTJ

Wherefore, putting off the lying, speak the truth, each one with his neighbor, because we are members of one another...Do not let any decadent word proceed out of your mouth, but rather whatever is good for edification, as needed, so that it may impart grace to those who hear. Let all bitterness and hot temper and wrath and clamorous bickering and slander be removed from you with all evil, and be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other even as God also forgave you in Christ.  Ephesians 3:25, 31-32 WTJ
Our families can be filled with such pleasant words as we put off the old man, and put on the new man.
