Hannah Praying

Day 1
  • Hannah is a woman in the Bible that prayed to God. (show picture of Hannah)
  • How do we talk with God?
  • By praying! God is Holy Spirit.  We can’t see spirit. Even though we can’t see God, we can talk to Him.
  • Hannah really wanted to have a baby boy.  She prayed to God and asked Him for a baby boy.
  • God answered her prayer!
  • (Teach verse for the week.)  We can pray to God throughout the day!
  • (Pray together with your child.)

Day 2
  • How do we talk to God?  We pray!
  • Hannah really wanted to be a mom and have a son.  She was sad about this.
  • Hannah prayed to God and asked him for a baby boy.  She even cried while she prayed.
  • You can ask God for help.
  • (Give examples of what we can ask God for when we pray. Asking to be healed, asking for help learning how to share or obey, etc)
  • (Review the verse for the week.)  As you have needs during the day, you can ask God for help.
  • (Pray with your child.  Before you pray, talk about what each of you are going to ask God for.)

Day 3
  • Hannah asked God for a baby boy. God heard her prayer and answered her prayer!  She became pregnant and had a baby!  She named her baby Samuel.
  • Hannah was so happy she prayed again and praised God.   When we praise God we say how wonderful He is and what wonderful things He has done.
  • (Read 1 Samuel 2:2)
  • (Review the verse for the week.)  When we pray during the day, we can praise God for what He has done and for Who He is! (ex: He is love, He is light, He is powerful.)
  • (Pray with your child.  Before you pray, talk about what each of you are going to praise God for.)
