Song: “We Love Him” from  Hide 'Em In Your Heart Volume 2, Steve Green, watch here

Parent Preparation: Pray. Read: Matthew 3:11-17, Mark 1:7-11, Luke 3:21-23, John 1:30-34, and John 3:16. For further reference Walking in God’s Power Intermediate class Appendix 2.5 and The Acceptable Year of the Lord section 3.2 by Walter J. Cummins

Supplies: Bible, heart (from felt or paper), dove (from felt or paper, I printed out this), print out of teaching

Day 1
  • (Read Matthew 3:13-17 or the record from a children’s Bible.)
  • When Jesus came up out of the water Holy spirit came upon him and it looked like a dove! (have your child hold the dove).
  • This was very special.  Normally we can’t see holy spirit.  God did something special when He gave Jesus Christ holy spirit.
  • Then God spoke from heaven. (have your child hold the  heart.)
  • (Read the theme verse. Have your child echo it back)
  • Jesus Christ was God’s son and God loved him very much.
Day 2
  • (Read Matthew 3:13-17 or the record from a children’s Bible)
  • People had been waiting to receive holy spirit ever since Adam and Eve disobeyed God and lost spirit (show picture from children’s Bible.)
  • John said that someone comes after him who is mightier than John.  This man would baptize with Holy Spirit.  Who was he talking about?  Jesus Christ!
  • (Read the theme verse. Have your child echo it back)
  • (Read John 1:33)
Day 3
  • (Read Matthew 3:13-17 or the record from a children’s Bible)
  • (Read the theme verse. Have your child echo it back)
  • Jesus Christ was beloved to God.
  • God also loves you. He showed His love for you by giving.
  • (Give an example of of something special to you that you gave to someone to show your love for them.)

Additional Activities:
  • Read John 1:32-33.  God told John the Baptist that the person who the Spirit depends on, that will be who baptizes with Holy Spirit.
