Grow In Grace - For A Parent's Heart

"But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever. Amen." 1 Peter 3:18 KJV
We don't have to be a perfect parents. We don't have to hold onto guilt when we make mistakes in parenting. We can enjoy God's grace in every area of our lives.

"By grace, you have certainly been saved [delivered] through believing, and this [salvation] is not from yourselves. It is the offering of God. It is not of our works so that no one may boast," Ephesians 2:8-9 WTJ*
Our salvation is by grace. Not from our perfection. Our children's salvation is by grace, not by us being perfect parents.

"Moreover, the grace of God that brings salvation [deliverance] has appeared to all people, educating us that we should deny ungodliness and worldly cravings and live soberly and justly and godly in this present age, looking for the happy hope and appearing of the glory of the great God and of our Savior Jesus Christ." Titus 2:11-13 WTJ*
Since we are growing in grace, does that mean we just do whatever we want to do? No. Grace teaches us to say "No" to ungodliness, and to live godly lives. We find out what God says about how to live, and endeavor to live that way. We enjoy salvation by grace and we look to the return of Christ. Instead of perfect parents, we can be godly parents.

Look further at God's grace:
  • Read Ephesians, paying attention to when "grace" is mentioned
  • Do a word study on the Greek Word for "grace", "charis". I use Bible GT for doing word studies (the webpage, app, or Facebook app)
